There are two major cities in Japan. One is Tokyo in the east, and the other is Osaka in the west (Kansai).
People’s characteristics are much different. In Osaka, more straight and powerful. In Tokyo, more pretending to be cool.
And, in 80s, it is said as the peak of FUSION.
In Japan, synergy of the PEAK OF FUSION + KANSAI POWER = NANIWA EXPRESS.
YES I stayed in Osaka in the beginning of 80s, therefore NANIWA EXPRESS is our home band. There were several jazz clubs in Osaka, sometimes I have been there. Always I was knocked out by their straight power. They said themselves they are live performance band.
I remember once in BANANA HALL in Osaka, when they were performing, Rikiya Higashihara (ds) over performed the drum solo, and finally fell down on the drums ! I am not sure how people said, against professional ??? No no no, it is not the issue. It was just over energy and exactly we were more than excited.
start the band: 1977
record debut : 1982
dissolve : 1986
reunion : 2002
Still they are very hot !!
Especially in Japan, in recent many years, society is very rigid. Any body look facing inward.
WHY DO NOT WE GETTING BACK TO 80S TO BE STIMULATED BY NANIWA EXPRESS ?? They are always here with us.
