Of, sorry to say, it is SHOWA !
I do not know why it is the first time to visit NARCISSE. It is in Shinjuku. (close to DUG and PIT INN).
It’s open is in 1978. Long history.Whole inside cafe proves it!
One of the top joy to visit jazz cafe is match of album between previous wish and actual arrangement. This was the case.
For such traditional atmosphere and distinctive image, I was expected Thelonious Monk, and the 2nd album at my stay was “BRILLIANT CORNERS”. Oh my god ! How came such a nice gift at my first visit !!
Then, for the 3rd album, it was my request, “CHARLES GAYLE, SOLO IN JAPAN” (1997).
Charles Gayle is sax player, categorized in FREE JAZZ.
This album is with 5 tunes, and 4 tunes inside are live at NARCISSE here !!
We all inside cafe closed our eyes, then CHARLES GAYLE appeared here to play sax in solo.
This is the fun at Jazz cafe !!
(Charles Gayle’s story is introduced by シュート・アローさん「昭和・東京・ジャズ喫茶」)
