JAZZ VOCAL AT TIME OF JAPAN JAZZ RAPID GROWTH

It is difficult to talk about the vocal.

Some or many people insist that “fundamentally human voice can not compete with instruments”. However, on the other hand, more people, maybe, seek the relaxing in vocal.

Is it the issue which is different from human being preference ?? It is hard to be living together ??

Don’t care. Just talking about individual preference.

Frankly speaking, my preference is MANHATTAN TRANSFER ( to be connected with WEATHER REPORT) and Al Jarreau ( to be connected with Steve Gadd) and so on, and so on.

And then, now hereby, Mari Nakamoto.

She got a No.1 in Swing Journal reader’s poll in female vocal in 1978 and 8 years continued.

She joined Montreaux Jazz Festival together with Tokyo Union on 1978, then the next year with Bingo Miki Inner Galaxy Orchestra.

At that time, every month, I was waiting for new release of magazine “SWING JOURNAL”, and exited to feel rapid growth of Japan Jazz.

It should not be a kind of nostalgia, but sometimes valuable to be back.
