I talked only to myself when I came in OCTET, Yamagata.

The owner was just smiling, which looked to me the highest welcome, as if he knew that I got 400km move from Tokyo to here.

OCTET is well known jazz kissa throughout Japan,which was born in 1971. One of the longest-established Jazz kissa.It is very interesting to see jazz kissa culture that such kind of places are still spread throughout in Japan. To visit there, one by one, should be the greatest aim of the travel.

Mr. Aizawa, Owner of OCTET, is anytime, anywhere, quite gentle and with warmest heart to the guests. Guest can enjoy the time in OCTET in utmost relaxed, either only listening to jazz or enjoy hearing the story from Mr.Aizawa how jazz kissa was born in Yamagata.

Furthermore, Mr.Aizawa released a booklet to explain it for more people. It is a pity that the booklet is available only at OCTET. But in any way it is available there, which can be a self-souvenir to visit OCTET.

There is a piano equipped in OCTET. Sometimes well-known musicians serve a gig there, having 400km drive! This is one of the points of “OCTET is here in Yamagata”.

週末には時折有名ミュージシャンを呼びライブが開催されます。

相沢マスターに会いたくて、東京から400㎞、せっせとお金をためて再訪したくなる、そんな店です。
