SPECIAL LIVE IN JAPAN ④- WELCOME ALFRED LION!!-MT.FUJI JAZZ FESTIVAL

Alfred Lion, founder of BLUE NOTE JAZZ LABEL, came to Japan in 1986 to attend the first Mt.Fuji Jazz Festival with Note, as a special guest.

ブルーノートの創立者ALFRED LIONは1986年、第一回目のマウント・フジ・ジャズフェスティバル・ウィズ・ブルーノート、の特別ゲストとして来日しました。

His life dedicated to BLUE NOTE, hot spirit to create BLUE NOTE jazz, consistent care to BLUE NOTE musicians is well known to all jazz people. Then at last years, because of broken his health, he needed to leave his carrier with BLUE NOTE and music. However, there was a chance in Japan to hold special event with BLUE NOTE related musicians, and strongly wish to go to Japan. Alfred Lion, being strongly stopped by his wife, Ruth Lion, however, decided to go.

彼の、ブルーノートという世界でトップのレーベルを作り上げた功績はすべてのジャズファンに広く知れ渡っています。あまりに音楽に心身を注ぎ込み過ぎて晩年は体を壊し音楽から離れざるを得なくなりました。それでも日本で特別イベントを企画される、と聞くや、奥さんのルース・ライオンの強い反対を押し切ってでも日本に来ることになったのです。

I have been long time thinking of his mental state at that time. It was actually almost CLOSING OF LIFE. Why to Japan ?? Just luck or destiny ??

私は長い間、その時の彼の心境について考えてきています。自らの時間の〆が近づいてきているときの決断。そして何故日本だったのか？ただの偶然か運命か？？

As to myself, I lost a chance to go that festival. There was an excuse….. No, No….

In a life, there are a few case to lose a chance. However, after that we need to review and think back long and long time…..

私のことを言うと、このコンサートに行く機会を逸しました。いろんな言い訳がありました。。。。だめですね。

人生には、それでも、機会を掴むことができなかったことってあると思います。しかしその後で思い起こしたりそのことを考えるのに莫大な労力がかかる。。。。

Still I am thinking of Alfred Lion’s mental state at that time. Let’s listen to BLUE NOTE !!
