FRETLESS BASS IN JAPAN

There are many bass players who play fretless bass after Jaco Pastorius, however, if it is exclusive for fretless, quite limited.

Ryoji Orihara (織原良次）(1980- ) is such a player who is mainly performing in jazz club in Tokyo around.

He is a famous Jaco Pastorius researcher as well, who used to post some studies in bass magazine.

Of course he is establishing his style. (It is said that he wants to be called just as ” fretless bass player” rather than jazz player.)
