HARA NOBUO SHARPS AND FLATS, LONG DRIVING OF BIG BAND JAZZ IN JAPAN

JAZZその他音楽

From 1951 until 2009, Hara Obuo Sharps & Flats had been driving strongly big band jazz in Japan.

Quite unfortunately already it was closed…. The video was on July 2009 for the Grand Final Concert, which shows its significance by attending so many special guests like Sadao Watanabe, Terumasa Hino and others.

However, one of the most important event for him was attending New Port Jazz Festival in 1967, which was for the first time for Japanese musicians.

There, he was bringing Hozan Yamamoto (山本邦山)as a special guest. Not only for the first time for Japanese musicians but also proving Japanese culture at New Port Jazz Festival.

The tune, 箱根八里 Hakone Hachiri (traditional Japanese folk song), was replayed in this Grand Final Concert. In this sense as well, 1967 is very important for jazz !! (not only the death of John Coltrane…..)

Today on June 22, 2021, we got a sad news of death of Nobuo Hara. Rest In Peace !!
