Michael Brecker (Mar 29, 1949- Jan.13-2007)
To be honest, I like Michael Brecker fusion blow in the ’70th even though I am afraid there were some people who disrespect him in those style just to say “mechanically”. It was just a style temporary. Then later in ’90th, he changed his style, and those who disrespect him, they changed as well. Just it.
When I got interest in jazz and fusion music in latter half ’70th, Michael Brecker was one of the hero for me always giving me penetrating impulse. There are so many albums of my favorite.
However, today on Mar.29, I am listening two of his leader albums.
MICHAEL BRECKER. Released in 1987, for his first leader album
with Jack De Johnette (ds), Charlie Haden (b), Kenny Kirkland (p), Pat Metheny
PILGRIMAGE. Released in 2007, for his posthumous work.
with Brad Mehldou (p), Herbie Hancock (p), Pat Metheny (g), John Patitucci (b), Jack De Johnette (ds)
