JACO PASTORIUS IN 2 HOURS RADIO PROGRAM

JAZZその他音楽

There is a two hours radio program every Saturday midnight (23:00-01:00) in Japan called “JAZZ TONIGHT”, hosted by Yoshihide Otomo (g).

Last Sat., July 24, was featured on Jaco Pastorius.

Even only in two hours, we could re-confirm in our mind of the great works of Jaco.

So many high mountains with a lot of different enjoy to climb and walk !!

Yoshihide Otomo is a talented host. He explained Jaco’s special characters, not only fretless bass, but also whole “MUSICIAN”‘ foresight, composition….

One of the point to understand Jaco’s character is that he stayed in Florida (he moved to Miami in 1958 when he was 7 years old). Conga is very important instrument to remind mid-America atmosphere. And in the first tune in the first album, he placed Conga and Bass duo !! and it is of Charlie Parker (Miles Davis) !! It was said he strongly insisted.

This is just an example. We realize still there are a lot of issue to learn from Jaco !!
