There is YAMANOTE-SEN, ring-railway, in mid of Tokyo, and in its middle, there is Yotsuya. Very center of Tokyo. However, sorry to say, not so popular for sightseeing. I am afraid
not so familiar with foreign visitors. One of the important place is Sophia University
（上智大学）. Why important ?? Because university is highly connected with Jazz cafe.
Maybe still major visitors at Jazz cafe are students.
Long time ago there was a rumor that actual classrooms for many students are Jazz cafe !!
Another important place at Yotsuya is EAGLE （いーぐる）.
It was born in 1967 when the master, Mr.Masahiro Goto was university student
( There was several cases that Jazz cafe masters opened their cafes when they were students, long time ago at the beginning stage of Jazz cafe in Japan.)
Then, “EAGLE” charactors;
- Royal road of Jazz cafe
- Wider categories are covered. Especially up-to-dated are maybe in top classes.
- Double environment, daytime for coffee ( no talkings), and evening time for alcohol (suppressed talks are allowed)
- Frequent events are provided for general studies on Jazz, with guests speakers
Honestly speaking, sorry to say, especially for the beginners, it is not easy to feel free to
enjoy there, when we were told “no talks please” But no need to hesitate.
It is always open for Jazz lovers. If possible, it is recommended to be accompanied with
senior to Jazz. After leaving EAGLE, we can talk loudly without any hesitation !!
It is important that always we can feel LEARNED as well at EAGLE. Thank you.
