The year 2020 is on the way to close shortly. It is really the tough year by Covid19.
Recent shocking news came from JAZZ STANDARD, NEW YORK.
And also in Japan, SATIN DOLL, ROPPONGI, which will be closed today, 31st Dec.2020.
I have no chance to visit JAZZ STANDARD, however, to SATIN DOLL,I went there many times even though long time ago. It is very sophisticated, and well reasonable to entertain drink, food, and nice music performance. Missing very much.
Once again, due to COVID19. So many clubs and cafes were closed…..
However, on the other hand, new club has started on 8th August 2020, in center of TOKYO!!
The above is the concept of this club by the owner. Rough translation is;
” It was on 12th May, I presented REQUEST to government to save musicians life and activities when there was strict rule by government of serious restriction was enforced.
After disappointment of no reply, I have decided to provide such a place by myself on 8th Aug, even though I got objection from many people, CRAZY IN THESE TOUGH DAYS!! . I myself may agree.
However, DECIDED. Then I want to make it as the best club, as no other place can do”.
On 30th December, there was the last and special performance in 2020 there. Total 11 musicians were performed in 3 stages. 2 groups and the last stage of free session.

今年は言うまでもなくコロナで大変な年でジャズの世界でも多くのクラブが閉店の結論を出すことになってしまいました。
しかし、その一方で、何と！新規に開店のニュースもあったのです。壱岐坂Boncourage。
WEBのconceptの案内からも、オーナーの並々ではないミュージシャンへの想いが伺われます。
2020年12月30日。年末最後の特別セッションに出かけてきました。総勢11人のミュージシャン。
どの顔、どの演奏からも「演る喜び」がほとばしっていました。
世の中はこんなに大変でも、ただ、自分たちができることを探し出し、それに集中する。この上なく楽しんで。
年の瀬の貴重な時間を皆様ありがとうございました。
