CECIL MCBEE AND JAPANESE

JAZZその他音楽

Cecil McBee (1935- ) has a bass player who has long carrier of collaboration with so many musicians. If it is with Japanese musicians, it should be with Yosuke Yamashita, who has his New York Trio since 1988.

Yosuke Yamashita NY Trio feat. Joe Lovano – Kurdish Dance (1992)

Yosuke Yamashita (p), Cecil McBee (b) and Pheeroan Aklaff (ds) (special guest, Joe Lovano(sax)

Yosuke used to have “bass-less trio” so long. Cecil McBee’s bass should be so stimulative.

Then, Terumasa Hino.

Hogiuta(寿歌)(1976)

Terumasa Hino (tp), Cecil McBee (b), Motohiko Hino (ds) and Mtume (perc)

Hino moved to New York in 1975, then he tried his Japanese oriented music with American musicians as challenge.

And, if regardless of Japanese, probably the most popular one is with Charles Lloyd.

FOREST FLOWER (1966)

Charles Lloyd (ts), Keith Jarrett (p), Cecil McBee (b) and Jack DeJohnette (ds)
