4-4, MALAYSIA: MELAKA= CITY OF THE ANCIENT

旅・食

I HAVE DECIDED TO MOVE TO MELAKA.

I took a ferry to BUTTERWORTH, then took a Malay Railway to Kuala Lumpur, then decided to move to Melaka by bus because it is not convenient by train to Melaka.

Malay Railway is very comfortable like on the way to Butterworth from Badan Besar.. It takes around 4 hours. Almost all way with a rural landscape ! Easy to be asleep !

Melaka is a city of the ANCIENT.

Melaka Sultanate was prospered in 15-16century.

After that, there was dominated by European Emperors, Portuguese, Holland and England.

In addition, there was a PERANAKAN. From the late15th century, many of Chinese people moved to Malaysia as a new continent and made a family with local ladies. Those who got a sense of business and made a wealth. Also, there was a unique culture established.

In Melaka, there is a MIXTURE with such several cultures and histories.

I have arrived at Melaka in the evening. As usual, I found a suitable Inn style hotel, and walk around in the city.

Night market looks like very famous. (open at weekend. Today is Saturday).

On the next day, I went to Dutch Squares, Melaka River cruise, and enjoyed Nyonya dishes (Peranakan ladies’ dishes).

It was just a sightseeing.

The example is TRISHAW, which is extremely colorful especially light up at a night.

I feel a little bit confused with rich historical culture.
